Why I am feeling so thankful - just IMAGINE! ...
This is the finest talk, the finest expression of the value of imagination for parents, for teachers, for life skills educators … click this, listen all the way through it:
… especially, especially today and today and tomorrow.
I was fortunate to take a series of improvisational theater workshops with Jennifer and her colleagues, especially Rebecca Rice and the founder of The Living Stage, Robert Alexander, both now deceased, in my third year of 40 years with preschoolers. This was also the scariest thing I’ve ever done, and it gave me something I’ll never forget - a love of dancing, playing, and courage to open my mouth as I open my heart, and play-tools I have used every day in every class of preschoolers, with every performance, with every person in my family over the last - my god - 45 years. Thank you, Robert Alexander and The Living Stage Theater Company, an outreach of Washington, DC’s Arena Stage Theater, for a spark that will light up any situation and never go out.
I am grateful.
Reader, if your children ever have an opportunity to take improvisational theater, or you ever have an opportunity to yourself - I encourage jumping in. Your life will never be the same, nor boring!
